Previous articles have discussed the use of Adobe Flash for cheminformatics. Tetsuya Hoshi has created a 3D structure viewer (embedded above) called Chemul that can be used with the Flash Player and which is written in ActionScript 3.0. Although the documentation is written in Japanese, it appears that Chemul supports multiple display options, as evidenced here.

Hanjo, I hadn't seen the tutorial - good find.

Although it's in Japanese, the math and code examples could be helpful. It actually looks like a good chunk of the source code is on display.

Tetsuya posted a tutorial on how to make a 3D molecular viewer using flash (action script) in his homepage, which seems to contain somewhat detailed information on his first software, Molecular Draw. I hope I will have a chance to contact or even meet him during my visit to Japan after about two months.

'Chemul' means 'smoke' in japanese. But I can’t guess the connection between smoke and cheminformatics. Can you?
